Barrie 2010 - Week 2
During our second week at Nana and Papa's, we went on some day trips to Toronto, the rodes at Kempenfest and spent some time at the park running with friends.
The boys were so happy that Mommy finally agreed to take the GO Train to Toronto for our trip to Centre Island. I wasn't too keen on getting up that early in the morning, but it was worth it to see their excitement. Sean found the ride a bit rocky on the upper level, that in addition to riding backwards made him feel a little rough. A quick change of seats and he was okay... however he was happy to stay on the lower level on the return trip. They were wide eyed as we made our way through Union Station during the early morning and evening rush. They kept their eyes open at the end of the day for cousin Stephen, who takes the GO Train to and from work downtown.

Riding the ferry from the harbour front to Centre Island. Upon our arrival, we learned that the park didn't open until 10:30 (we thought 10:00). All was well though, we found a park to play in and even a garden dedicated to Franklin and his friends.

Fire engines have been a favourite ride since I was a kid!

This one tickles their tummies.

Sean, always the cool driver

Steering with BOTH wheels, a classic move!

Please Mom, can we swim. Sorry Sean not today... ankle deep water and too many other things to do!

Riding the antique carousel.

Ryan took Papa for a ride in the old fashioned cars...

while Sean was my driver.

Ice cream break... I think some of it may have gotten in his mouth:)

Taking the ferry back to harbour front... Toronto's skyline is in the background.

The next day we took the subway downtown to visit the CN Tower, followed by dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory with Paul, Shirley, Stephen and Megan.

I think this was the highlight of Ryan's trip. We rode right up front next to the driver (not sure what their official name is!)

Walking to the CN Tower from Union Station, Ryan checks out a GO Train like the one we rode the day before.

The boys at the base of the CN Tower.

Look up, up waaaay up!

Sean checking out the view from the top.

Sean laying on the glass floor. Makes my knees weak... funny how I'll send my kids out there though! "Mommy needs a picture!"

Ryan taking a turn

We even got to go OUTSIDE on the observation deck. Not sure this is a good idea either!

Papa and Ryan looking at the Island Airport and finding Centreville.

Mommy and her boys at the very top

Sean got a little braver with the glass floor!

Then he decided to bust a move!

Sean noticed that this tour bus was a boat too. He thought that was pretty cool.

Sean and Ryan both had a fantastic time swimming with Mark. We got to Rosemary and Angelo's for dinner and Sean went to the door, knocked asked if Mark was home and went right in... that's my shy boy!!

On the August long weekend we headed down to the rides at Kempenfest with some friends. Michelle and Ryan had a little quality time together:)

Sophie, Sarah Sean and Ryan watch Ben and Ella on a ride... if only they were a little taller:(

Sean was so excited to get on a big kid ride.

Ryan got to ride up front.

Playing manhunt at the park.
