Mama's Takin' Us to the Zoo ... and We Can Stay for an Hour!!

We decided to go to the zoo today and save Santa's Village until tomorrow.  The boys have had some very busy days and late nights and the weather wasn't supposed to be the greatest today.  It ended up being beautiful though... but the low key day and a nap for Ryan were a good idea. 

 The local zoo is small, so an hour or so was all that we needed, but they have some great animals.   No major incidents, with the exception of the petting zoo.  Sean and Ryan were excited to take their cones of pellets and go feed the goats.  Usually this is Daddy's department, but since he isn't here, I took them in.  Make that attempted to take them in.  Sean went first and the goats smelled him coming... they bullied their way out of the gate and into the space we were in pushing Sean up against the fence and swiping his food.  Naturally they were upset and rescued from the area.  Needless to say, we exited without any food and I don't imagine we will be visiting a petting zoo again anytime soon!  

I learned today that the giraffe is Sean's favourite animal... who knew?   He was quite excited to see them... thankfully they had some there (4 actually).   Sean also discovered that it is difficult for such a tall animal to keep his  "privates" private and quickly informed us which was the daddy!

I found it a little unnerving watching the jaguars.  While they look like they are quietly resting in this shot, the black on had been sitting up keeping a keen eye on all of us.  

Sean was excited to feed "Zaboomafoo" the lemur.  With a lift from Mommy he managed to toss a piece of banana through the fence!
