A Very Thomas Birthday Party for Ryan
Saturday was a beautiful day for a birthday party.  Temperatures here reached 70 degrees!   We were busy going to the gym, Sean joined Jake for roller skating and Ryan and I ran some errands and took lunch to Tony.   During nap time, I finished decorating the cake and decorating for the party.   Unfortunately, warm weather, made it difficult for Tony and Nick to escape work.   They were able to be with us for all the important parts though.

Ryan's eyes were wide when he came down from his nap and saw all the Thomas decorations.  He seemed to know that all of this was for him and he loved it.   Sean wanted to wear "engineer pants"  like Ryan, fortunately the weather was nice so he wore his shorts.   He also wanted to wear his engineer hat and scarf.  Of course this would be the day that Ryan wanted to wear his too.  Perfect... except his were nowhere to be found.  Sean was a great big brother and offered to let Ryan wear his.

We enjoyed pizza, breadsticks, and wings followed by cake.  Great- grandma Erm, Granny, Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Nick, Aunt Jeannette, and Jake were all there to celebrate with us.   Nana and Papa, of course, would love to have been here too.

On Sunday morning, Ryan wanted to have a shower.  He was running to call Sean to join him, when he fell and smacked his forehead into the basket spindle on our wrought iron railing.  Fortunately, the goose egg (see bottom picture) has gone down and it hasn't turned quite as many shades as we expected.   He was a trooper and back up playing in no time.  He even joined us for Sean's last hockey practice.   Believe it or not, he sat in his seat watching for most of the time.  Followed by running, climbing over seats and (my favourite) hanging on railings.  I was certain he was going to end up at the hospital this time!    Sean did some great skating, back and forth between groups.  He's not big on waiting his turn, so he moves to a group that doesn't involve a line or follows his favourite coach around.   Turns out they added a week, but we won't be able to attend as my friend Michelle and her family are coming.  Sean stopped and thanked all the coaches on the way out telling them " see you next season!"

Yes that sliding door IS open!

Grandma and Grandpa brought a Thomas train whistle... not quite getting the concept yet!

So proud of his candle blowing abilities... not to mention loving the attention!
He was so tired when the party was over, he went to bed even before everyone left.  He laid talking and singing to himself for a while and then drifted off.  Such a good boy.
OUCH!

Hi to everyone!
We are so glad to see the latest photos, and very happy that Ryan was finally able to celebrate his birthday in style. It's so hard to believe that he is two already.
Everyone here is busy packing for the big trip this weekend (haven't taken out the cases yet, but we know what we want to take)
Have a wonderful time with Michelle and her family.
Lots of love to everyone,
Paul, Shirley, Stephen and Megan
XOXOXO

Let's see if I can only leave 1 copy this time!! Ryan looks like he thoroughly enjoyed his big day. We would loved to have been there in person, but we did go through the day with you all in spirit. Ryan looks so happy ! That goose egg could have been so much worse. I'm glad Sean enjoyed his last skating session for this year.
Time to take that delicious phosphate solution! Wish me luck! Lots of love to you all.
